Lupita Nyong'o becomes Lancôme's first black spokesperson

Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o announced Thursday April 3rd that she’s the new face of cosmetics giant, Lancôme. The actress is the beauty company’s first black ambassador. She joins other A-list ambassadors like Kate Winslet and Julia Roberts.

In a statement to the media, Lupita said she was proud to represent Lancôme and that beauty should not be dictated, but should instead be an expression of a woman's freedom to be herself.

Lancôme ad campaigns featuring Lupita will begin airing in September.
