Olympics: Heavily pregnant Olympian in London gives birth

Nur Suryani Mohd Taibi

The 29-year-old Nur Suryani Mohd Taibi from Perak - situated 125 miles north of Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur competed at the just concluded London Olympics due to have her first child on the 2nd of September 2012

She was her country's representative in the 10m rifle shooting event. With heavy determination, she did not look back in building on her past record as she was a former Commonwealth Games gold medalist, partnering Nur Ayuni Farhana Halim in the air rifle pairs at the 2010 Games in New Delhi.
In November last year, she won two gold medals in the Southeast Asian Games in the 10 metre air rifle and 50m rifle three position.

The 29-year-old Suryani became the first woman shooter to represent Malaysia in the Olympics and also the athlete in the most advanced stage of pregnancy in Olympic history – competing in London when she was eight months pregnant.

Happy family

The Malaysian Navy logistics officer, who is ranked 47th in the world in the 10m air rifle event, was much sought after by the foreign media in London due to her pregnancy. She however failed to make the women’s 10m air rifle shooting final in the London Olympics after finishing in 34th position out of 56 competitors with a score of 392.

She has delivered a baby and has bagged an experience at the London Olympic,She is still a true inspiration to us all.
